The Great Wall unveiled

Our Great Wall just added a lot more color to Uptown Oakland.

From far and wide across the bay, internationally renowned artists have come together to work on single collaborative mural. Their fabulous location site is none other than our Great Wall of Oakland. Artists include: Estria, Chor Boogie, Apex, and Vogue.Their subject matter revolves around 2012 - the destruction and rebirth of the universe. Heafty subject matter of course but the end result is a feat of wonder.Arriving at the bright hour of 9am Sunday morning, the crew tricked in and began sorting through crates of colorful spray cans carefully protected behind a strand of caution tape. Scaffolding arose, coffee and pastries appeared, and soon the day was off to a swift and jubilent pace. Between bouts of laughter and planning, sketches of paint began sprawling across the span of the eggplant colored wall. An Aztec god began to take form radiating a spectrum of images, hues, and more importantly a variety of artistic style and tecnique. This was in deed the collection of six individual artists works, complete with each asthetic and approach.

Artist Chor Boogie believes in the power of color therapy, which is in essence the use of "any and all colors known to man in order to create beauty." In the words of artist Chor Boogie, color "provides all healing... its an internal divine mood setting applied to a creation of form and texture... Believe in your color."

Come see color in action and spreading the radical healing vibes through Oakland at 2201!
